BEIJING - China shut Yeeyan site, a community site that translates some information from the foreign media in China. Yeeyan, translating news information from the British newspaper, Guardian, and also other international newspapers.
Closing is expected Yeeyan aftermath of China government's policy to discipline its sites that are considered dangerous and disseminate sensitive information to the public. Government of China itself has not given an official reason for the closure of the site.
"Closure is really confusing. Yeeyan is a great community site and able to provide the information to Internet users in China," said the editor of Guardian News and Media, Alan rusbriger as reported by the Guardian, Friday (4/12/2009).
Alan hope this closure is not an attempt to suppress freedom of speech, and the government of China to ensure users can access the internet Yeeyan back.
Yeeyan site is the largest translation community sites in China and has about 90 thousand members, including 5000 at least one interpreter who post more than 30 thousand translation written on the site.
