When you start a Blog it is hard to know where to start or what to do with your Blog. Many people are put off by what others will think of their Blog and some still wonder why they should create one in the first place. So I have put together my top 10 Blogging tips for my readers.
1. Write a Blog about something that you know a lot about - This may seem daft but if you create a Blog about something that you don't know much about it will be harder to research and you may run out of information after a while. Plus if it is something that completely bores you the posts may not get to the point and will just end up full of dribble.
2. Bookmark every single Blog Post and page that you have - I know this can be a very boring task but bookmarking all of your work can give you a brilliant position in the Google ranks and even get you featuring more than once. I have a few Blog posts that when I search certain terms on Google I will be number 1-4 as one is the original and the other three are via bookmarking sites
3. Make sure that your Blog Feed is working - This may sound incredibly daft but you will be amazed by how many people have Blogs and there feed is broken. This is key to getting your Blog indexed quickly and informing people of new information that is available on it. When you look at your Blog feed you will usually see the last ten posts so that pings can crawl your details correctly.
4. Let your personality shine through - If you want your readers returning for more it is important that you stick it a similar kind of personality. People want to know how passionate you are about the subject. They want you to have fun and don't want to read something that they believe you are not interested in.
5. Plan your Blogging time - Blogging can take up quite a bit of time so make sure that you are in a position to give it justice. When you start a Blog to get a decent amount of traffic to it you need to be posting on it twice a day, then five times a week after a few months. Think to yourself how much time you will need to achieve this and stick to it. I find it handy to set aside on morning a week to do the following weeks posts.
6. Turn your Blog posts into articles - This is very important that you do this the day after your Blog post goes live as it will help build the backlinks to your Blog. I always send mine to about 10 article directories starting with goarticles.com. Change the first paragraph so that it is slightly different and then send the reader to the original post.
7. Plan your title in advance - It is a known fact that we all want to have a decent position in the search engine results and this is the best place to start. I will aim for the long keywords that get 10-15 hits a day through at least two Blog posts a week. People go for the hard keywords too much and this takes a lot longer when you can be having much better results in a shorter time.
8. Respect your readers - Many people believe they are above their readers and this should never happen. You should treat them as equals to you as this is what they are and you will get the best results if you look after them. Post information to your Blog that they need and in return they will tell everyone about your amazing Blog.
9. Don't overload the advertising - This can kill off a Blog very quickly if it is done wrong. Your Blog should be clean and healthy, it should not just be full of banner ads or adsense. Use the gaps in your navigation area evenly without it looking scruffy and overloaded.
10. Include other pages - It is a great idea to include at least one more page on your Blog or even more if you can. It should include an about me page along with details of how to find out more about your products. If your Blog is an information Blog include a page with links to related products that your readers would be interested in.
If you follow these top ten Blogging tips you will have the chance to seriously improve your Blog and see a dramatic increase in your traffic.
